This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the FlowSnap Chrome Extension ("the Extension").

1. Information We Collect

FlowSnap is designed to operate primarily on your local device. We collect only the information necessary to provide the Extension's core functionality.

• Screenshots and Images: When you initiate a capture, the Extension takes screenshots of the visible area of your active browser tab.
• User-Provided Text: We collect the workflow step titles, descriptions, document titles, and prompts that you manually enter into the Extension.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information strictly to provide and improve the Extension's features:

• Core Functionality: To generate documentation (such as PDF, Word, Markdown, and ZIP files) based on the workflow steps you have captured and annotated.
• AI Documentation Generation: If you choose to use the AI-assisted documentation feature, your text inputs (step titles, descriptions, and prompts) are used to generate detailed markdown documentation.

3. Data Storage

• Local Storage: All data captured and generated by FlowSnap, including screenshots, workflow steps, and document titles, is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage mechanism (chrome.storage.local).
• No Remote Server Storage: We do not store your data on our own servers. Once you delete the extension or clear the extension's local data, your data is permanently removed from your device.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share information with third parties in the following specific situation:

• OpenAI API: If you actively use the "AI Documentation" feature, the text of your workflow steps (titles and descriptions) and your prompt are sent securely to the OpenAI API to generate the documentation.
  • Important: We do not send your screenshots (images) to OpenAI. Only text data is transmitted.
  • Please refer to OpenAI's Privacy Policy for more information on how they handle data.

5. Required Permissions

The Extension requires the following Chrome permissions to function:

• activeTab: Required to capture screenshots of the specific tab you are currently viewing when you activate the extension.
• storage / unlimitedStorage: Required to save your captured images and workflow data locally on your device so that you don't lose progress between sessions.
• scripting: Required to inject the necessary capture and interaction scripts into the webpage to record your workflow.

6. Tracking and Analytics

FlowSnap does not use any tracking software, analytics platforms (like Google Analytics or Mixpanel), or third-party cookies to track your behavior or usage of the Extension.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
